Cargotec has signed an agreement with Indian bulk export specialists, Salgaocar & Bros. to supply the firm with a range of MacGregor equipment for transloading iron ore.

The machinery will be used for handling iron ore at the company’s new plant in Goa, India. Included in the order are cranes, hoppers, a shiploader and a deck-conveyor with a rated capacity of 2,000 tph.

The equipment is set to be delivered by May next year, with the terminal scheduled to be operational by the end of 2011.

Jonas Johansson, Cagotec’s sales manager for marine selfunloaders, said, “The system will be tailor-made for the customer to suit its intended operations in Goa. Our customer wanted reliable, well-proven and robust technology that is designed for marine environments, and thus selected Cargotec for the project.

“We are also the only company that could deliver the compete material handling package that included both cranes and the conveyor system; this draws upon expertise from different business areas within Cargotec.”
