Lifting gear distributor Certex International has completed installation of a 1,200t capacity test bench in a purpose-built facility belonging to subsidiary Peter Harbo AS at the Port of Esbjerg, Denmark.

Certex International, through Peter Harbo AS, invested DKK5m in the 20.5m-long bench, which it claims is one of the largest test benches in Europe.

The new investment will allow the company to perform pull tests up to 1,200t, breaking tests up to 960t and spreader beam tests up to 500t on equipment, such as steel wire rope, chains, hooks and lifting beams up to 15m in length, which were previously outsourced.

Certex UK director of sales and marketing, Charles Gillespie, commented: “This huge investment was possible thanks to the size and influence of our Swedish mother company, especially at a time when companies in general are holding back on investments which could strengthen their market position.

“Having access to shared equipment and facilities provided within the wider group of Forankra companies means that we can provide better services for our existing customers as well as reach out to new ones,” he said.
