Hiab is focusing on its "Big Five" range which include some new features: easy tilting stabiliser legs to make the crane quicker to set up; a base mounted oil tank, which can bring simpler installation and easy access; a bolted integrated subframe that keeps crane delivery and installation times to a minimum and ensure a perfect fit; auxiliary legs which can be adapted to suit the crane and fully integrated into the hydraulic and electronic systems; variable stability limit (VSL) that can automatically regulate crane capacity in relation to the stability; the 9m chain driven stabiliser span, which can almost doubles extension speed, saving time when setting up and stowing your crane; a quick installation of jib to crane to maximise the flexibility; an easy folding jib and hoist without having to remove pulleys and hoist rope; a long jib support which acts like a manual extension, providing another 1.5m of outreach while keeping the same compact crane design. The company says: "These are the strongest and toughest cranes, but they can be gentle giants as well.

"When you need to reach out with high precision, these big cranes from HIAB give you perfect control".

Another innovation is the HiPro control system, which combines the CombiDrive2 remote control, SPACE 5000 intelligence and a variable pump. The company says the Automatic Speed Control (ASC) increases capacity and the Pump Flow Distribution (PFD) maximises productivity by ensuring supersmooth operation at all times.

Features of the Hiab X-HiPro 1058 include a capacity of 90tm and horizontal outreach up to 34.5m with a jib and vertically up to 38m and this extra capacity can increase the possibilities for heavy lifting at long ranges.

The Hiab X-HiPro 858 has a capacity of 80tm and horizontal outreach up to 34.5m with a jib and veritically up to 38m. This extra capacity, in this case, can be suited not only for lifting heavy, but for bulky materials, as well.

Hiab, part of Cargotec also introduces the new HIAB XS 177K, which is developed specifically for the German market.

This 17tm crane is designed to meet the needs of ‘drop and go’ transport companies who deliver building materials to sites where a high load-cycle speed and high precision are required.

The crane is available in two versions: in remote-controlled (HiPro) or manually controlled (Pro), offering efficient movement of bricks and blocks packaged on standardised pallets.

Leif Törnblom, product manager, mid-range loader cranes says: "Our German customers have very precise requirements for moving building materials, we are delighted to say that the new HIAB XS 177 HiPro remote-controlled crane has a speed and precision that is outstanding in the marketplace."

The long first boom and chaindriven extensions deliver excellent load cycle times compared to other products currently available. The boom can quickly extend to maximum reach. However, it has a close-in lifting height of more than three meters, to easily move all the pallets on the vehicle, even those close to the crane’s column.

The Pro model’s control levers are connected straight onto the hydraulic valve, giving the operator a much more direct feeling, to allow him to work quickly and safely. The HiPro control system lets the operator remotely operate the crane from a distance.

In addition, the stabiliser control interface has easy-to-use push buttons and can also start, stop, and control the rpm of the vehicle’s engine. Improved display panels can show service requirements, error codes and information from the VSL system. Hiab’s latest electronic safety system, Space X4, offers user-friendly operation and monitoring of the crane’s performance.

The company is also promoting its World Crane Championship operator challenge to give crane operators the chance to showcase their skills in the industry. The winner will be crowned at the finals, which will take place at the IAA exhibition in Hanover in September 2016.
