Hiab XS 288 working on Chinese railways

Productivity and safety were the main reasons for China Railway to choose the Hiab loader cranes.

China will rail about 20 lines of high speed railway for passenger use. The maximum speed will reach 350 km/h. This project is to set up the test line. The line will run from Wuhan to Guangzhou, in southern China. The line is called Wu-Guang passenger transport line.

The Wu-Guang line has been separated into 23 sections, and construction will start around September 2007. The loader cranes will be placed in all 23 sections of the Wu-Guang line.

Each section contains a combination of nine different construction machines for various functions. The first of the nine HIAB units is a HIAB XS 288 mounted on a road-railway vehicle. Workers will use the crane to lay the rail in the correct position and to make adjustments.

The order for the HIAB XS 288 loader cranes without support legs and outriggers is valued at over EUR 800,000.

The cranes will be delivered between May and October 2007.
