Demag Cranes & Components (Shanghai) Co Ltd has opened a new 10,000 sq m plant in the Fengxian District in south eastern Shanghai, China.
Demag reckons the plant will raise its production efficiency by 50 to 75%, and allow it to deliver a typical standard crane, with single girder and 10t lifting capacity, within four weeks instead of three months.
Thomas Dorn, managing director of Demag Cranes and Components in China, said: “With an annual growth of over 20% in new investments into plants and manufacturing capacity, our market is continuously growing. It is predicted that this will be the case for a minimum of the next five years.”
The new plant will take over an older and smaller factory that Demag set up in the city in 1997.
Demag (Shanghai) is the wholly owned subsidiary of Demag Cranes & Components GmbH, a German heavy machinery building company. Since its foundation 10 years ago, the company has delivered more than 1,000 cranes to customers all over China.
