Heavy winter storms in Scotland hit a Glasgow church particularly badly. St Stephens lost 12m of its stone steeple which fell through the roof and into the street. Hewden Crane Hire deployed a 110t-capacity Liebherr AT crane to lift away large sections of debris and then remove skips loaded with rubble. Operating through the hole made in the roof by the falling steeple, the crane had 45m main boom and 20m offset fly jib. The job lasted just over a week and the crane’s last lift was to place a temporary cap over the remains of the steeple.
