This piece of information was incorrect. Wolffkran or its employees neither checked nor signed off on the foundations used at the Liverpool, UK, job site.
In a prepared statement Wolffkran added: “Wolffkran was at no time involved in the project at the Liverpool, UK, job site, in particular the dimensioning and selection of cranes, and the foundation design, respectively.
“Correct foundation design and the sign-off thereon are not within the responsibility of Wolffkran but in the responsibility of the construction company or the structural engineer in charge of the foundation design.”
The story dated 9 September, 2009 was based on a statement by Bowmer & Kirkland (B&K), the main contractor on the Liverpool, UK, job site. B&K then issued a clarification of some potentially misleading points; a respective story was published by Cranes Today on 16 September, 2009. The statement made by Cranes Today that Wolffkran did a check and sign-off on the foundations at the Liverpool, UK, job site was a misinterpretation of the initial statement by B&K made by Cranes Today.
Cranes Today herewith apologizes to Wolffkran for this mistake and for any inconvenience caused.
