Pablo Riveira De La Rosa, Operational Manager at SPRB, explains why the terminal went with Gottwald rather than with other suppliers. “Gottwald cranes are known for incorporating the most up-to-date crane technology. In addition, the outstanding service plus extremely attractive delivery times compared with other suppliers were very important,” Riveira De La Rosa says.
“We are confident that Gottwald’s cranes, which will mainly be used for loading and unloading container ships up to Panamax size with 13 container rows, are the optimum for the foreseeable future. These new cranes will help us to keep costs down, to reduce the vessel berthing time to a minimum, and thus to enhance our competitive edge,” Riveira De La Rosa says.
The G HMK 6407 Mobile Harbour Crane is one of the numerous versatile variants of Gottwald’s new Generation 5 launched in spring 2006 and including the Models 6, 7 and 8 with lifting capacities of up to 200 tonnes in heavy lift and a maximum 63-tonne grab curve, designed for cargo handling on all vessel sizes, in all types of terminals.
The G HMK 6407 cranes for SPRB have a maximum capacity of 100 tonnes on hook and a maximum outreach of 51 m apiece. Maximum hoisting speed is 120 m/min. The cranes feature a 2-rope hoist configuration and are equipped with an 895 kW diesel engine.
