Spanish tower crane manufacturer Comansa is building a new 20m Euro factory to replace its existing 33,000 sq m plant in Huarte-Pamplona, Spain which, it says, it has outgrown.‘The company has a production capacity of around 600 units per year, which is not enough to cover our demand and our plans for present and future development,’ it said.Comansa said the new factory would enable it to increase production capacity to 1,500 cranes per year – a 150% increase. It intends to begin production in the new factory in September 2005.Comansa is also creating branch offices in the Central Europe, the USA and Singapore to supplement existing branch offices in Madrid and Seville. The remainder of the company’s export markets will be serviced from the new factory. It currently exports about 35% of its production to countries such as USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Italy, Hungary, Sweden, Germany, Benelux, Portugal, Singapore, and Korea. The target is to have a 50/50 spit between production for the home market and exports.
