As well as the draft Tower Crane Maintenance and Thorough Examination best practice guide, the CPA has recently issued a new guide to the Safe Use of Top Slew Tower Cranes and a Tower Crane Operator’s Handbook. All of these documents can be downloaded from the Tower Crane Interest Group‘s page on the CPA website. The operators’ handbook is available as a pocket size printed leaflet, for £1.50.
The CPA’s chief executive, Colin Wood, said, “We think these guides will be invaluable documents, not just for crane owners but for the contractors that use and manage tower cranes on site. We want the contractors to have a heavy involvement in the development of new best practice guides. We don’t want to present them with a fait accompli, but to have their input.”
