Crane battery
When construction began on the 52-storey twin towers Al Kazim commercial and office building in Dubai’s Sheik Zayed Road, no AC power grid electricity was available on the site. The main contractor, Al Shafer General Contracting Co. rented an Atlas Copco QAS 250 generating set from local rental specialist Emirates Technical Services. Providing a prime power rating of 250 kVA, the set is used to power Liebherr luffing jib tower cranes until a mains supply has been connected. Skid mounted, the Atlas Copco set is powered by a Volvo –6 cylinder turbo charged and intercooled diesel engine to provide 220 kW at 1500 rpm.www.atlascopco.com
