Competitors from Iceland, Italy, Slovenia, and Germany qualified for the event during eight preliminary rounds organised by Liebherr between April and October in Germany and other European countries.

The test comprised several tasks that had to be completed without errors using a Liebherr 42 K.1 fast-erecting crane with a 500-litre concrete bucket on the hook. The final and most difficult task was to let down a ball carried in the bucket from a height of 5m through a remote-controlled flap into a debris chute.

Schwarzfischer drove to victory with a total time of 3.21 minutes, ahead of Icelander Ingi Björnsson (4.02 minutes) and Benjamin Langl from Eggstätt in Bavaria (4.16 minutes). Other competitors who received rankings at the Biberach final were Jurij Kozar from Ma_ovci (Slovenia), Ulrich Lindenthal from Ennigerloh in North Rhine-Westphalia and Maurizio Ghidini from Coccaglio in Italy.
