Software developer Cranimax has added a feature to its website that offers translations of specialist crane industry terms between English, German and French.

Cranitrans is a translation tool specially for crane technical terms. It has been developed from a list of 730 terms compiled by Demag’s chief engineer Klaus Meissner, based on the draft crane standard EN 13000. His goal was to aid communication with customers around the world. Cranimax is an independent company, but it provides software for Demag.

Meissner’s list is now freely available on the Cranimax website (www.cranimax.com) by clicking on the bottom button on the left-hand menu, labelled as ‘extras’ in German or ‘special’ in English.

‘The list is not comprehensive but it was thought that, similar to other translations lists on the web, it will grow by additional terms and definitions sent in from users,’ Meissner said. On the site, Cranimax invites users to e-mail additions and corrections.
