Albert Fitoussi Consultants has added a new version of its CraneCAD module to its MethoCAD site preparation planning software. MethoCAD has been on the market for 12 years and is used by contractors and site equipment rental companies. The package also includes modules for formwork, shoring and site layout.
CraneCAD 2.0 includes a database of parameters for Potain and Liebherr tower cranes. Parameters include height under hook, jibs and counter jibs, loads and hook positions. The database can be updated by the end user with parameters for new crane models.
Once the operator has selected a crane, a drawing can be produced, in plan and elevation views, using AutoCAD 2000. Following the parameters selected by the operator under Windows, the software assembles the different AutoCAD parts automatically. Dimensioning of the tower and a table giving all the crane’s parameters are then drawn.
The software is shipped with hundreds of AutoCAD crane parts, according to Fitoussi. CraneCAD runs in Windows, on a Pentium PC. To get graphic layouts in plan and elevation views AutoCAD 2000 is also required.
