Italian heavy lift specialist CTS has completed the installation of several 100t electric motors at a Romanian power station, utilising equipment supplied by Enerpac.

The project involved moving the large motors, each measuring 3.5m in height and 3.1m in width, from truck delivery to their final positions within the facility.

For the initial offloading process CTS made use of an Enerpac SL400 hydraulic gantry which was used to transfer each electric motor from the delivery trucks onto a self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT).

After transport through the construction site restricted space at the installation location required a compact yet high-capacity lifting solution.

To overcome these space constraints CTS deployed four Enerpac SCJ-50 self-locking cube jacks, connected to a split flow pump, to precisely raise the motors. This set-up allowed for the removal of the SPMT so the motors could be lowered onto steel stands in preparation for their final placement using the cube jacks.

CTS production manager Milan Jovanovic said: “The Enerpac cube jack significantly reduced the motor installation timeline compared to traditional jacking methods.

“By combining the SL400 hydraulic gantry and SCJ50 cube jack technologies, we had the high-capacity lifting solutions needed to provide both safety and operational efficiency during the project.”

The Enerpac SL400 hydraulic gantry features an Intelli-Lift wireless control system, enabling remote operation and automatic synchronisation of lifting and movement.

The Enerpac SCJ-50 cube jack is capable of lifting up to 50t to a height of 2m, using a combination of a base lifting frame and self-aligning steel cribbing blocks.

Enerpac supplies a range of hydraulic tools and controlled force products, supporting industries with heavy load positioning and on-site services.
