The crane will be supplied to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) through Terex Government Programs. The Cummins QSC engine, built in Darlington, UK, is rated at 228kW (305hp). The U.S. Marine Corps had a tough specification for the engine, including suitability for rapid deployment and all-terrain capability. The engine needed to be compatible with a wide range of military fuels including 100% kerosene. Additionally, the engine needed to cold-start down to -32°C and also to operate in hot climates with temperatures up to + 50°C. The Terex MAC-50 crane has a salt-water fording capability up to 1.5m (60 inches) and a 45-tonne lifting capacity.
