Its CANopen system has been audited and approved by CiA, ensuring that it meets the requirements of the CANopen standard, Datek said.
Datek said CAN only specifies the framework for the hardware and data transmission, and does not cover how the actual communication between different entries on the CAN-bus system should be conducted. In order to avoid a number of custom CAN-bus implementations, the CANopen standard was developed. CANopen is a general-purpose standard that specifies how the communication takes place, and how the systems on the bus should be configured, Datek said.
Datek added that by developing the D6003B receiver in-house, it has been able to eliminate the need for a gateway to handle fieldbus safety, and eradicate any compatibility issues and latent safety flaws that may arise from using non-certified systems; issues that have traditionally been associated with radio remotes featuring CANopen.
