UK-based Davies Crane Hire, one of the largest independent crane hire companies in Wales, has expanded its all terrain crane fleet with the addition of three Liebherr LTM 1060-3.1s.

The three-axle, 60-tonne lifting class, cranes are equipped with a 48-metre main boom with Liebherr’s Telematik single-cylinder technology, designed to provide greater capacities over the complete working range.
A 9.5 to 16 metre double swingaway fly jib is available, extending the crane’s hoist height to 63 metres and lifting radius to 48 metres
The LTM 1060-3.1 can carry all of its 12.8 tonnes of counterweight on roads in line with STGO regulations.
The units also have ECOmode and ECOdrive which, Liebherr claims, cuts fuel consumption by up to ten percent.
“The LTM 1060-3.1 is the best three-axle machine on the market,” says Neil Davies, managing director at Davies. “Over the last couple of years, we have slowly replaced all our three-axle machines with Liebherr’s LTM 1060-3.1s.”
In 2024 the company celebrated its 45th year in the crane hire industry and, to mark the occasion, Davies Crane Hire welcomed its flagship unit, an LTM 1650-8.1. The 700-tonne crane is the largest in Davies’s fleet and has been supporting various projects since it arrived in October 2024, including demolition work and constructing new bridges.
