The NCCCO course is aimed at crew who will use hand and voice signals during crane operations. It involved written and practical exams. Certification under the scheme is valid for five years.

Dawes commitment to the course puts it ahead of the current US regulatory requirements, and prepares it for the new OSHA cranes and derricks rule, coming later this year. Dawes said it feels that going above and beyond the minimal signalperson requirement of the current regulations will help to ensure a safe and productive working environment.
