Tadano announced the crane at a press conference ahead of its Crane Day customer event. After an introduction by Tadano CEO and president Koichi Tadano, Tadano Faun CEO Alexander Knecht explained that the new ATF 600G-8 is the ony crane in its class the does not require a boom guying system. Instead, two unpowered booms support the round main boom. This both reduces the space needed to operate the crane and transport and set up costs. Thomas Schramm, general manager, sales and marketing, projected these savings as up to €3,000 a job, or €1.8m in the first 15 years, with 40 jobs a year.

Schramm added that by improving the crane’s performance at radius, the Triple Boom offers a wider area of exclusive operation over seven-axle cranes than offered by eight-axle guyed cranes.

The Triple Boom system also increases the surface area of the boom head, allowing a stronger jib to be attached. The lattice jib is made up of 12m-sections in three sizes, designed to be nested together during transport, further reducing transport costs.
