NEW CABS and engine and the addition of electro-hydraulic steering have turned the 80t-class Demag AC 80-1 all terrain into the AC 80-2.

The cabs in the carrier and superstructure have been redesigned in a way that Demag believes ‘integrates them more elegantly into the overall appearance of the crane’.

Changes in detail in the driving cab include the provision of electric windows as standard, plus air suspension in the driver’s seat, and electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors. The upper cab is equipped with more powerful air-conditioning and features an 18° tilt angle.

The new engine is a stronger DaimlerChrysler OM 501 LA, developing 315kW, to comply with Euromot 2 / EPA 2.

Cruise control and ABS are now standard. A six-speed Allison automatic transmission has been retained.

The addition of electro-hydraulic steering of the two rear axles is designed to facilitate independent rear axle control and automatically ensure the correct neutral position of the axles.

Rear axle steering is actuated automatically by the movements of the steering wheel to improve on-site manoeuvrability.
