Gulf Stevedoring in Saudi Arabia has taken delivery of two super post-Panamax container cranes and five heavy duty rubber tyre gantry (RTG) cranes from Ireland’s Liebherr Container Cranes for its Jeddah North Container Terminal.

The ship-to-shore cranes have an outreach of 55m, can lift 65t under the centre spread twinlift spreader, and have a heavy lift facility of 75t. These two units bring to five the total number of Liebherr super post-Panamax units that now operate at the terminal.

The RTGs are the largest manufactured by Liebherr to date. They have 16 wheels, span six containers plus a truck lane wide and stack one over five containers high. Safe working load is also 65t under twinlift spreader.

Meanwhile, in Canada, Cerescorp has ordered four heavy-duty twinlift rubber tyred gantry cranes from Liebherr for its Halifax Terminal. Liebherr delivered two similar units to the terminal in 2002. The eight-wheel RTGs stack one over five containers high and span six containers plus a truck lane.

In Spain, Barcelona’s Terminal Catalunya has ordered two super post-Panamax cranes to add to the six Liebherr container cranes that it already has.
