It features a magnet, which attracts the centre of proprietary textile slings with steel fibres inside. The crane operator dips the hook down, slings cling to the bottom of the hook body and the motorised hook swings around underneath them, all without any manual handling. The company has also developed a flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC) bag whose straps have the same properties. The company said that the hook would be good for helicopters, which can hook and release loads from the control panel.
