Kalmar is using Igus’s energy chain systems on its new STS cranes. Igus says: “What distinguishes this crane concept is the fact that the two auxiliary trolleys each have their own drive, and can hence be individually positioned. They serve the purpose of keeping the ropes of the main trolley supplied at all times. The main trolley drives at a speed of 240 m/min.” The high-speed system does not need additional drives or a control system for the chain.
Energy chain for STS project
Igus (Cologne) has completed a ship-to-shore crane project with Kalmar in Antwerp (Belgium).
