Cavotec makes radio remote controls, cable reels and energy chains for cranes. Mooring Systems sells ship mooring equipment. As part of the Eur 125m deal, current chief executive officer Stefan Widegren will become chairman of Cavotec MSL, and chief operating officer Ottonel Popesco will become chief executive officer. The merged company will have eight manufacturing centres and 25 sales companies.

* In a separate development, French energy supply equipment manufacturer Delachaux has signed a deal to take over energy supply firm Wampfler in January, although Wampfler’s branding and its base in Weil am Rhein, Germany will be retained. Wampfler AG and Delachaux’ energy and data transmission product brand Conductix will be formed into a single division within the framework of a one to two year long transition phase, the company said.

Although Wampfler CEO Stefan Ziegler and financial director Christopher Friedrich will stay on with Delachaux, technology director Uwe Bormann will retire in December. The company said that his departure was unrelated to the takeover.
