Manitowoc Model 14000

Essex will add several of Manitowoc’s new 200t (220 USt) crawler cranes to its fleet this year and next.

Essex owns the largest fleet of Manitowoc cranes worldwide, many of them Vicon cranes, such as the Model 4100. The 14000 is a modern update to the mid 200-ton class crane for Manitowoc, which, like the 4100 is a favorite for Essex’s rental customers.

“Today we’ve put together a plan to add several 14000s to our fleet,” said Ron Schad, Essex president. “We based that decision on our long history with Manitowoc. We are pleased to continue that legacy.”

In 2003, Essex bought a batch of an undisclosed number of Liebherr HS 855 SX duty-cycle crawlers, and in 2005 bought a number of Liebherr LR 1100s and a variant of the LR 1200 lift cranes.

Bruce Buchan, vice president, sales for Manitowoc Crane Group, Americas said the continued partnership between Essex and Manitowoc is good for both companies and will benefit Essex’s customers.

“Today is a stepping stone for Manitowoc and it will be an enhancement for Essex’s fleet, he said.

Manitowoc has exhibited the 14000 for the first time at Bauma 2007 in Munich, Germany. Deliveries of the crane have begun into Europe and America.
