In a landmark move, the European Association of Specialized Transportation (ESTA) and the European Chemical Transport Association (ECTA) have formalised their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This strategic partnership aims to unite their efforts in advocating for advancements in transport infrastructure, regulations, as well as best practices and safety measures.
The MoU was inked during the esteemed Transport Logistic exhibition held in Munich in May. Esteemed industry figures, Iffet Türken of Kässbohrer, Vice President of ESTA's Transport Section, and Andreas Zink of LKW Walter, President of ECTA, were present to formalise the agreement.
The agreement outlines key areas of cooperation, including the standardisation and harmonisation of the European transport industry. Furthermore, both associations will engage in joint lobbying activities on matters of shared interest, while also facilitating the exchange of valuable insights on best practices and safety protocols.
For a duration of five years, this MoU will serve as a framework for collaboration between ESTA and ECTA. While it does not establish a legal relationship between the two entities, it aims to amplify their combined influence and foster enhanced cooperation, particularly in areas where their policies align.
Iffet Türken expressed enthusiasm for this momentous collaboration, stating, "This exceptional alliance promises to bring immense benefits to both organizations and our respective members. By leveraging our shared knowledge and expertise, we can accelerate the development of best practices and amplify our impact in both Brussels and our national governments."
ECTA, a non-profit organisation established in 1997 by Europe's chemical hauliers, has long served as a platform for representing their interests in discussions with international regulatory bodies and major chemical producer associations. With over 100 members, it operates under Belgian law and has garnered a reputation as a prominent advocate for the chemical transport sector.
This strategic alliance between ESTA and ECTA aims to harness their collective influence driving positive change, fostering an environment of improved transport infrastructure, enhanced regulations, and heightened safety standards throughout Europe.
