Return to virtual autumn meet for ESTA in face of Covid 19 upsurge in Finland

Due to a tightening of Covid 19 restrictions in Finland, ESTA (the European association of abnormal road transport and mobile cranes) has had to cancel its planned autumn in-person meet. The meet had been scheduled to take place in Helsinki, Finland, on 14 and 15 October; it will now take place as an online event instead.

The Finnish government has tightened restrictions as a result of an upsurge of Covid 19 cases in the country. ESTA is still looking for an alternative country in which to host the event but accepts that the short timeframe makes this unlikely to succeed.

“We will inform you about the details of such an event in the coming weeks but we thought it was opportune to inform our members of the cancellation of the meeting as early as possible,” commented Ton Klijn, ESTA director. “That will give you a little more time to change the plans you might have made already. We are very sorry we have to bring you this news, as we were really looking forward to meeting all of you in person after such a long time. However, we will be looking forward to ‘meet’ al of you during the online meeting – hopefully for the last time.”
