Details of the speakers and topics to be covered have now been published, and will include ESTA members and industry experts representing rental and transport firms, crane manufacturers, special transport manufacturers, insurers and wind turbine manufacturers.

After a brief introduction by ESTA president Christian-Jacques Vernazza, Sander Splinter, Mammoet’s director for Europe, will cover safety issues involved when installing and performing maintenance work on wind turbines.

This will be followed by ESTA general secretary Søren Jansen’s overview of these issues from the perspective of rental firms and hauliers before market research company BTM Consult’s director, Per Krogsgaard, covers forecasting future developments within the wind energy industry.

Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens will be represented by its head of environmental protection, health management and safety (EHS) responsible for global sales and projects, Paul Ejiro Okpurughre, who will discuss best practice during lifting projects.

The rest of the day will look at the technical aspects in more detail, with presentations from Liebherr general manager of design, Hans-Dieter Willim, and Terex director of product integrity Klaus Meissner, as well as a talk on insurance by Codan Insurance claims engineer Finn Thyrring.

Seeing out the speakers programme will be the director of special transport firm Nooteboom, Han Rekers, who will speak on the merits of cross-party communication in improving safety. This will be followed by an open forum discussion on the day’s events.

The forum discussion will be hosted by ex-BBC presenter, Peter Hobday, best known as a former host of BBC Radio 4’s flagship news and current affairs show the Today programme.

The most recent version of the speaker programme is available from ESTA. Tickets can be booked directly from the organiser at the ESTA wind turbine expert summit registration page
