Few details of the new five-axle all terrain crane are available yet. However, based on the number of axles, Cranes Today would guess at the crane being in the 150-220t capacity range. In line with the company’s aim of producing a ‘Terex look and feel’, the new family of cranes features a gently curved cab design, similar to that used in the three axle Challenger.
Cranes Today understands the crane will appear under a new family name, following the US multinational crane builders pattern of moving away from initial-based designations.
On the rough terrain side, Terex will formally launch the first European member of its Quadstar family, soft launched last winter with the 100t US-built Quadstar 1100. The new Quadstar on show at Bauma will have been built at Crespellano, Italy, under the same transatlantic development process as its US cousin. Cranes Today expects the new crane to have a capacity of 80t.
The third new name making its first big appearance at the show will be the Superlift 3800 crawler. Launched to the press and select customers at Zweibrücken last year, the 650t nominal capacity is designed as the successor to the highly successful CC2800.
Also on show will be a new CTT flat top tower crane.
