Steve Filipov, in his first major interview since taking from his father Fil over as president of Terex Cranes, has told Cranes Today magazine that the industry can expect to see little or no change in the Terex way of doing things under his leadership.

‘I don’t think it will be any different,’ he said. ‘It [the company] has been successful because of the business model and the energy we’ve put into it. By “we”, I mean me and my father.’ The Terex model has relied on acquisitions, aggressive cost cutting and low sales prices.

Terex Corporation president and CEO Ron DeFeo told Cranes Today that the continuity that Steve Filipov represented helped to make him the obvious candiate for the post that he took over on 1 January.

The one area Steve Filipov does intend to make a change is in customer service. ‘During the down market we have got to get our service support up to par, worldwide,’ he said.
