Tadano Faun has given its ‘Jump Start Award’ for 2002 to its Spanish distributor Mycsa.

The award made at the annual distributor meeting, was in recognition of its performance selling 22 new and eight used cranes within five months of being appointed distributor for Spain in August 2002.

The Spanish mobile crane market is almost completely accounted for by all terrains. In 2002 there were about 320 new all terrain cranes sold in Spain and virtually no truck cranes or RTs. Liebherr claimed a 45% share, with 145 new cranes sold, compared to Demag’s 60 units and Grove’s 40. Spanish manufacturer Luna is estimated by its German competitors to have sold about 50 units.

With sales averaging more than 300 units a year in the past four years, Spain is Europe’s second biggest market for AT cranes, behind only Germany. But with just 48 units sold in the first quarter of 2003, 30% down on the first quarter 2002 sales, most manufacturers’ forecasts put likely 2003 sales in the region of 200 to 250 units.

Tadano Faun’s distributor Mycsa has sold 25 new cranes in the first half of 2003.
