Italian manufacturer FB Gru is launching two new self-erecting tower crane models.

New to its GA compact crane series is the model GA 724 which is a bottom slewing self-erector equipped with inverter controls for all the movements. Electronic displays monitor the hoisted load and the trolley position on the jib. The system also gives a continuous safety check of all the parameters. Height under hook is 19m, the jib is 24m long and maximum load capacity is 1500kg, reducing to 700kg at jib end. Maximum height in stowed position for transportation is 2.8m.

The second new model is in FB’s series of top slewing city cranes and is designated the GH 146. Free height under hook is 42m, the jib is 46m long and load capacity at the jib end is 1,000kg. This model is also equipped with inverter controls for all movements.

Both cranes will be exhibited by FB Gru at the SAIE exhibition being held in Bologna, Italy from 16 to 20 October 2002.

FB Gru was founded in the 1950s by brothers Ambrogio and Giuseppe Butti, originally making simple building site equipment such as wheelbarrows and ladders but had begun making tower cranes by the end of the decade. The FB stands for Fratelli Butti – Butti Brothers.
