Spies from Cranes Today spotted the prototypes of Grove’s forthcoming 75t AT crane at its Wilhelmshaven factory in Germany last month. The GMK 4075 (designated GMK 4090 in the USA) makes its debut at Bauma in April.
Grove says it has taken about 40 orders for this machine already.
This model fits midway between the 50t GMK 3050 and the 100t GMK 5100 and uses established GMK features such as Megatrak suspension, Twinlock and Megaform boom design, EKS4 load moment indicator, 17m hydraulically offsettable boom extension (5° to 40°) and pick and carry duties with steering from the superstructure cab. In addition the GMK 4075 will be the first Grove fitted with a fully graphical ECOS (electronic crane operating system).
A competitive load chart is claimed in its 48t GVW taxi crane configuration with 10.1t counterweight, 17m hydraulic offset swingaway, single sheave hookblock, 8x8x8 drive and 16.00 R25 tyres, according to provisional specifications. Maximum lifting capacity through the chart requires an extra 6t of counterweight. Jib extensions up to 27m are also available.
Also spied was the new Megalift attachment for the GMK 6300. This chart-enhancing feature follows the principle of the configuration commonly known as superlift. It will also make its debut at Bauma where it will be shown on a GMK 6300. A certain amount of boom modification is required but it will be possible to fit the Megalift to existing customer machines, Grove says.
