The trade association has published toolbox talk slides, registration forms and promotional posters for the event, which covers safety on all sorts of cranes. Topics covered are ground conditions, protection in the space behind a mobile crane’s swing radius, boom inspection, communications (for example, no Nextel push-to-talk radios), riggers, daily inspections, operations coordination and erection and dismantling.

The group uses the stand down format to promote awareness of different aspects of construction safety. “Georgia Branch AGC, and our stand down partners, OSHA and CompTrustAGC Mutual Captive Insurance Company (MCIC) believe there is tremendous value in committing 30 minutes to an hour of your day’s work to talk about safety, leading to increased employee safety morale.”

Crane companies including Maxim Crane Works and Cobb Erectors have pledged their support.
