The LR 1600/2 was used to unload the two components, before carrying them 12m and loading them onto a heavy load transporter. The heaviest part, the press head, weighed 335t and had to be unloaded from the ship at an outreach of 23m.

For the work, the LR 1600/2 was equipped with a 42m main boom, 36m derrick boom, 65t central ballast and 150t superstructure ballast, and maximum derrick ballast of 350t.
“The LR 1600/2 offered the ideal price-performance ratio for this job,” said a Schmidbauer spokesperson.
“Thanks to the investment in this technologically advanced crawler crane, it was possible to handle a difficult situation perfectly with the machine. As well as the good load distribution of the two crawler travel gear units, the variable derrick system was a major advantage in view of the restricted space available at the location,” the spokesperson said.
