GKD TECHNIK, a UK supplier of electronic monitoring systems, has appointed Trans Tech Systems Inc. of New York as its sole distributor for the USA.
GKD Technik, a division of GKD Europe, has been supplying crane and excavator rated capacity indicators in Europe to OEMs and dealers for 10 years to meet the European Machinery Safety Standards. American National Standards Institute and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers have agreed on new safety requirements in line with the European safety legislations to make crane load indicators mandatory now on mobile and crawler cranes. As a consequence, GKD Technik sales and marketing director Edward Spiteri expects a huge retrofitting programme of cranes in the field.
