Karoline Goldhofer-Prützel, the owner and sole shareholder of German trailer manufacturer Goldhofer, has transferred her whole share capital to the Alois Goldhofer foundation Plans for the transfer were announced in April last year when, as a first step, Goldhofer was made a joint stock company, or Aktiengesellschaft. The move is designed to protect the future independence of the company and to ensure that it continues to exist independently of the owner. The company now cannot be sold or taken over.

Karoline Goldhofer-Prützel, the daughter of Alois Goldhofer who founded the company in 1946, has no heirs to take over the company in the future. She and her husband, Dr. Hans-Hermann Prützel, a lawyer, established the Alois Goldhofer public-private foundation back in 1994.

Chief executive officer Stefan Fuchs said: “The long-sightedness of Karoline Goldhofer-Prützel has forward-looking effects on the safeguarding of more than 450 workplaces at present. By taking this step, the entrepreneur Karoline Goldhofer simultaneously backs up the importance of Memmingen as an industrial site.”
