Grove Crane held an open day for customers last month at its French base in Osny, near Paris. The event was Grove’s alternative to exhibiting at the Intermat show this month.

Among the new cranes on show was a 300t GMK 6300 all-terrain which has been sold to France Levage and an RT 530E, the new 30 US ton-rated rough terrain crane that was exhibited at Conexpo last year but had not been seen in Europe before.

Visitors to the 28 April event also saw a range of other German-built GMK ATs in the colours of the customers who had bought them. The GMK cranes on show included a 2035, a 3050, a 5100 and a 5180.

The GMK 5100 has a five-section, 12.8m main boom that extends to 51m and can lift 100t at 3m when fitted with its road-going counterweight of 11t. Grove says that the crane is still within 12t per axle when carrying an 18m bi-fold swingaway jib and a 20t hookblock and equipped with 16.00R25 tyres.

When fully rigged with maximum 31t counterweight it can lift 2.2t at its maximum reach of 46m. Grove has registered 100 advance orders for the GMK 5100 and began deliveries last month. It is also the first GMK crane to sport the new Grove colours (see box above).
