John Wheeler, who has been a senior vice president of Grove Crane since 1995, has been sent to Germany to become president of Grove Worldwide’s Europe, Africa and Middle East operations.

The newly-created position puts him in charge of sales, marketing and product support for cranes and aerial work platforms in these geographic markets and gives him responsibility for Deutsche Grove and the manufacturing operations in Wilhelmshaven. He will be based in Langenfeld, Germany.

Asia Pacific operations will report to the Shady Grove head office in the USA.

Explaining the reorganisation, Grove Worldwide chairman and chief executive Sam Bonanno said: “Because our strategy of increasing our share of business in these markets is so vital to the success of Grove, we are committing the talent and resources necessary to achieve our objectives and fulfil the requirements for what I believe will be a growing customer base for our mobile hydraulic cranes and self-propelled aerial work platforms.” Before joining Grove 13 years ago Wheeler worked for Ingersoll Rand.
