In its two weeks of production, the South Malaysia factory, near Singapore, has already built a 206tm crane with 15m boom and a 225tm crane with 25m boom. Herkules managing director Lennart Avnby said that it wanted to produce cranes in Malaysia because protectionist policies have made import difficult.
He added that the market is booming in Thailand. “We are working around the clock now,” he said. He expects to make 200 truck cranes this year, mostly for the local market. He said he plans to double the size, and production, of the 8,000 sq m factory in Chonburi, Thailand by mid-next year.
