Along with the new boom system and cylinders, the crane includes improved couplings and seals. The company’s HiPro control system and variable pump comes as standard, which generates the extra capacity needed for heavy lifts.
“Great precision is usually hard to come by at long outreach, however the Hiab XS 622 is different. Even at maximum reach lateral deflection is negligible,” says Mikael Rietz, vice president, loader cranes, at Cargotec. New technical solutions make the boom system more stable. For instance, the design of the full sequence cylinders prevents the crane from unexpected jerky movements during extension or retraction. On each boom extension, new types of side supports stabilise the boom laterally.
By mounting a Hiab Jib 150 X on the crane, the load can be moved to previously inaccessible places for a crane this size. In its longest configuration, the maximum outreach will be 32m. The jib is exceedingly flexible and can be angled at 25° and upwards. “Installation and roofing are examples of work where you profit from longer outreach and higher precision. Hiab XS 622 with Hiab Jib 150 X rises to the challenge,” says Mikael Rietz.
Thanks to the new couplings and seals, Hiab XS 622 has a reduced risk of leakage and longer service life. By fitting a P-boom, the crane will be perfect for loading and unloading boats, mobile offices and containers. Transportation is a constant feature of lifting work, making weight an important factor.
“Despite its robustness Hiab XS 622 is still a light crane,” says Mikael Rietz. “It may sound like a contradiction. And in a way it is. But with great engineering we can achieve both.”.
