Hiab sees orders surge in Q1

Hiab, the knuckleboom and load handling subsidiary of Cargotec, has reported sales revenue of €287m for the first quarter of the year, down 5% compared to the same period in 2020.

However, the orders received increased by 44% year-on-year to €425m; while the order book on March 31 amounted to €642m, 28% higher compared to the December 31. Cargotec’s CEO Mika Vehviläinen, commented: “Hiab’s orders received was once again its best ever.” The operating profit was €33.1m, up 17% year-on-year.

One of the orders booked in Cargotec’s Q1 order intake was the one from UK hard landscaping manufacturer Marshalls, with a value of €4.9m. Marshalls order includes 108 new Hiab loader cranes equipped with the connected service HiConnect and ProCare total repair and maintenance contracts for eight years.

The cranes ordered are the medium range Hiab X-HiDuo 138 B-2 loader cranes with Brick Grabs supplied to Massey Truck Engineering who will install them on truck trailer combinations, as well as the Hiab X-HiPro 099R Roll Loaders with Brick Grabs installed on SDC Trailers, construction spec platform trailer. “Both are remote controlled to give operators the best field of vision to improve precision and safety to themselves and the surroundings. All the complete units will be supplied to Marshalls via Zenith,” added the manufacturer.
