The Hiab 222ATF-1 has been designed as part of the US Army’s FMTV (family of medium tactical vehicles) wrecker vehicle array, and Cargotec, parent company of Hiab, said “it represents the most modern load handling technology for military use in extreme operating conditions”.

The large order will be delivered through BAE Systems Inc, which is involved in the global development, delivery and support of advanced defence and aerospace systems in the air, on land and at sea. Deliveries will start in the first quarter of 2009, with the majority of cranes delivered by the end of the year.

Hiab 222ATF-1 was designed to specifications laid down by the US Army, according to Cargotec, with a long service life and ease of use by non-professional operators key.
