Wolfgang Babel studied Electrical Engineering at the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and later completed a PhD at Columbia Pacific University in San Francisco and an engineering doctorate at Friedrich Alexander University. His career began at Diehl GmbH where he held leading posts in various divisions. After ten years he moved to Endress+Hauser Conducta. There he was responsible initially for development, eventually becoming Chief Executive Officer. He joined the Hirschmann supervisory board in October 2007.
