Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) domestic sales manager Hemmo Luyerink has been appointed sales manager of the new Hitachi-Sumitomo joint venture in Europe. He replaces Bert van Dorth, director for international sales, who has retired after 35 years in the crane industry.
Cranes up to 100t capacity are now being made at Hitachi’s factory in Tsuchiura, Japan, while cranes over 100t come from Sumitomo’s Nagoya, Japan factory, van Dorth said. A complete new line of cranes, starting with a 90 tonner, will be introduced at the Bauma fair next March.
Kazuo Fujimura remains director of the AC (Application Centre) factory in the Netherlands.
Van Dorth joined Demag in 1968. Two years later he moved to the European Hitachi licensee, Hovers-Hitachi and stayed there until 1972, when the company collapsed. Then he started Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) with two other colleagues from Hovers-Hitachi.
