The crane is intended “to meet demand in the Japanese port loading market,” the company said in its annual report in August.
“The lattice-boom truck crane is a hybrid model that combines optimal technologies from both companies (Hitachi Sumitomo’s crawler crane technology and Link-Belt’s track crane technology). This kind of collaboration is representative of Hitachi Sumitomo’s cooperative business style,” the company said.
The crane will not be shown at Bauma Munich next year, Takebe said.
Rick Curnutte, telescopic cranes product manager, confirmed the launch.
“Link-Belt is co-developing with our sister company, Hitachi Sumitomo Heavy Industries Construction Crane Company (HSC), a 70-metric ton harbor crane for the Japanese domestic market,” he said. “Link-Belt brings to the project its expertise in truck crane carrier development.”
