The telescopic boom crawler crane can lift 100t at 2.5m on its 52m boom. The main boom extends from 11.5m up to 52m, and a 10.8-19m lattice jib is available.
The first LTR 1100 put to work in Hong Kong is working on a 30-storey, two-tower government housing project in Hung Hom. It was delivered to crane rental specialist Chim Kee, who ordered the crane with a 7m folding jib and 19m boom extension. This offers a variety of configurations and a maximum extended boom of 78m.
Main contractor Shun Tak Yee Fai Joint Venture is using the LTR 1100 to work on the basement levels of the two towers. Work includes lifting and placing steel girders and 40mm diameter rebar.
The Liebherr LTR 1100 has been specially down-rated to a 50t maximum lifting capacity at a boom length of 54m, in order to meet the loadings of a steel platform erected over the 10m-deep basement excavation.
Some 36,000 cu m of land was excavated for the basement, with the steel platform erected over 75% of the site.
“[The LTR 1100] offers an extremely compact build and small footprint particularly when compared with competitors’ 100t capacity crawler cranes,” said Gary Kwok, marketing manager at Chim Kee. “The LTR 1100 is ideally suited to Hong Kong’s construction methods of steel structures and constricted sites.”
The Hung Hom housing project will include a four-storey retail and recreation podium above the two basement levels, with the two 30-storey towers rising from the podium.
