Bristol, UK-based construction hoist provider Hoist Hire Services has used a passenger goods hoist from German manufacturer Geda at a high-profile luxury apartment construction site in the centre of Birmingham.

A premium model Geda P22 Multilift is providing access for the many contractors on site. According to Geda the fact that the lift protects employees and materials from rain and wind, and its high travel speed, were key to its selection for use on the site.

To enhance safety 2.1 m high floor-to-ceiling safety doors were specified. The lift is being operated by a trained lift operator to navigate the 24 floors. At a speed of 54 m/min, the site’s entire construction height of 75 m can be quickly reached, says Geda.

A particular challenge on the job regarded anchoring the Multilift. Geda and Hoist Hire Services collaborated to find a solution that involved anchoring through the building’s windows and using a special construction to avoid damaging the brick facade.

The Geda Multilift P22 Premium is expected to be used on site for around 12 months.
