Shipyards in Korea and China have ordered 14 hose handling cranes from Dreggen Crane in recent months, orders worth $1m to the Norwegian manufacturer.

Samsung Heavy Industry has ordered nine units for new tanker projects. These cranes have a capacity of 15t at various outreach between 20m and 29m. Hudong shipyard has ordered two cranes with capacity of 15t at 24m, and Jinling Shipyard has ordered two cranes with a capacity of 10t at 19.5m.

Dreggen’s hose handling cranes are controlled from an open platform above the slewing ring and have stepless variable speed control. Two motions can be operated at the same time with full capacity, but with reduced speed. Each hydraulic circuit is provided with equipment for limiting hydraulic pressure to preset values to prevent overloading.

The cranes also have a built in power pack. The electric pump motor is located in the centre of the pedestal with the output shaft pointing upwards and driving the hydraulic pump. The steel slewing column is used as tank for the hydraulic oil. The hydraulic oil circuit has a full flow return filter with changeable filter inserts. The tank is provided with an oil level indicator and a temperature gauge. The electric pump motor is of squirrel cage type, fan cooled and certified for use in hazardous areas.
